Saudi Building Code’s executive regulations amended

The Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), Majid Al-Kassabi, approved amendments to the executive regulations of the Saudi Building Code (SBC), which will come into effect from the date of its publication in the official gazette.

Any violation of the code, its law or regulations is considered a breach that requires removal or correction and exposes the violator to penalties.

The regulation stipulates a fine of SAR 10,000 on the owner when carrying out construction without contracting a certified or licensed engineering office by the relevant authority. Additionally, work will be halted until a contract is made with a certified or licensed engineering office or contractor by the relevant authority.

Moreover, a fine of SAR 10,000 is imposed on the owner when carrying out construction without contracting a certified or licensed contractor by the relevant authority to perform construction activities or the related authority. Furthermore, what has been executed in violation of the code will be removed.
