Oil tanks
US oil inventories fell by 6.49 million barrels during the week ended May 24, the American Petroleum Institute's latest weekly report showed.
Gasoline stocks fell by 452,000 barrels last week, while distillate stocks (including diesel and heating oil) rose by about 2.05 million barrels.
Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for August delivery (the most active) fell 0.6%, or 51 cents, to close at $83.43 per barrel on May 29.
WTI crude for July delivery fell 0.75%, or 60 cents, to record $79.23 per barrel.
