Saudi Arabia wants to provide the world with all types of energy despite industry-wide challenges, said Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

The “lack of clarity” on the policies, as well as the absence of incentives and technology development are among challenges that could hinder a faster adoption of alternative energy sources, he said.

Additionally, carbon capture and storage (CCS) represents another challenge, the minister said.

Saudi Arabia currently has a CCS facility with a 5.1 million tons of carbon, Prince Abdulaziz said, noting that the Kingdom is open to cooperation and partnerships with the world countries in the renewable energy.
