US crude oil inventories fell by 2.29 million barrels during the week ended March 29, American Petroleum Institute (API) data showed.
Gasoline stocks fell by 1.4 million barrels last week, while distillate stocks—including diesel and heating oil—retreated by about 2.55 million barrels.
Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for June delivery rose 1.7%, or $1.5, to close at $88.92 a barrel, declining from an intraday high of $89.09.
WTI crude for May delivery grew by 1.7%, or $1.44, to $85.15 a barrel, following an earlier increase to $85.46.
