Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Co. (EVIQ) aims to enter partnerships with real estate companies and operators and municipalities in order to provide electric vehicles (EVs) charging points in all regions across the Kingdom, CEO Mohammed Gazzaz told Argaam.

This is alongside the establishment of traditional stations, as it is important to simultaneously provide fuel and EV charging stations, he further stated on the sidelines of the launch ceremony of EVIQ’s first EV fast-charging station in Riyadh.

According to Gazzaz, EV chargers are key to having an integrated environment that serves EVs. He noted that lack of EV-related infrastructure is one of the company’s challenges.

EVIQ is working to solve the limited availability of EV charging stations in public places, he stressed.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) plays a key role in the transition to EVs through investments in several companies, such as Lucid Motors and the establishment of Ceer Co.

Also, Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has a fundamental role in empowering the sector by enabling the necessary infrastructure and activating EV chargers, he added.

According to data available on Argaam, the PIF and SEC jointly launched last October EVIQ, in which the fund owns a 75% stake, while SEC owns the remaining 25%.

EVIQ aims to develop a high-quality infrastructure to support fast-charging services for EVs across the Kingdom, which will contribute to strengthening the EVs system locally and accelerating their utilization.
