A look at eviction requests for residential rent defaulters in 2023

The number of requests to evict defaulters of residential rent reached 33,560 during 2023, an increase of 2.6% from 32,720 requests in 2022, Ministry of Justice data showed.

 

Completed requests reached 28,060 during 2023, compared to about 22,990 in 2022.

 

Riyadh region accounted for 37% of the requests with nearly 12,420 applications for eviction, followed by the Makkah region with about 10,360 requests. The following table shows the requests to implement the eviction by regions in 2023:

Riyadh came on top of cities in the number of requests to implement evictions for defaulting on paying residential rent, with 11,990 requests in 2023. It was followed by Jeddah at 8,050 eviction requests. The following table shows requests to implement evictions by cities during 2023:

January saw the greatest number of requests to implement the evictions at 3,792. August came second with 3,315 requests. The following table shows requests to implement evictions by month during 2023:
