Contractors formed consortiums to bid for Riyadh Metro extension contract to design and build a new line to link Qiddiya to King Khalid International Airport, MEED reported.
The new line (Line 7) will be executed in two phases. The first phase includes building a metro line linking Qiddiya Entertainment City, King Salman Park and Diriyah Gate. The total length is about 65 kilometers (km).
The project will have 19 stations. Fourteen stations will be built underground and five overground. Phase two of Line 7 will connect Diriyah Gate with New Murabba and King Khaled International airport. The project is still in the study stage.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has set a deadline of Dec. 20 for companies to prequalify for the tender, according to MEED.
