Tadawul launched the first exchange-traded derivatives product on Aug. 30, 2020, marking the beginning of derivatives trading in the Kingdom.

 

Futures contracts, agreed upon today for future settlement, allow the seller or buyer to close early by taking an opposite position without needing to hold until maturity.
