stc Group leads ICT sustainability in Middle East: Forbes

stc Group, an enabler of digital transformation, won the Forbes Sustainability Leaders Award in the Middle East, in recognition of the Group’s ideal sustainability efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability practices in four fields, related to climate, society, digitization and future of employment. The award was received by Mohammed Abaalkheil, Vice President Corporate Relations at stc, on the sidelines of the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders' Summit 2023, which took place in Abu Dhabi earlier in November.
 

The award recognizes stc Group’s commitment to sustainable business practices, which are applied across the Group’s departments. The Group’s initiatives had a positive impact on the environment and societies, in which it operates starting from cutting carbon emissions to enhancing environment awareness campaigns. stc Group deems that the principle of sustainability represents a basic value for dealing with environment. It is also vital for business practice. The Group also abides by shaping a sustainable future for its clients and employees, as well as the societies where it provides services.
 

Other organizations, such as The UN Global Compact and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), valued stc Group’s sustainability endeavors. The Group’s sustainability strategy harmonizes with the UN sustainable development goals and focuses on three key areas covering environment responsibility, social investment and governance.
 

stc Group is committed to sustainability principles and aims to apply environment-enhancing practices. This way, stc Group strengthens its position as a leader of sustainable business practices. It will continue on its path to place sustainability as a priority to build a bright and sustainable future for itself and for future generations, through reducing carbon footprint and applying sustainability-enhancing practices.

The Group makes effort to leave a positive mark and make the world a place for better health and prosperity for future generations.

 

It is worth noting that stc Group has achieved many breakthroughs on sustainability levels. It offered 4,348 sustainability training hours for its employees. Reliance on local content reached 38.21%. Further, 213 small and medium-sized enterprises participated in the processes of procurements, awarding SAR 5 billion contracts to mega project that deploy local content and providing more than 127,000 raining hours through the stc Academy.
 

Through the InspireU incubator, stc Group provided support for about 100 start-ups at a total value of up to SAR 10 billion. Women’s representation in the Advance Analytics unit reached 52%. It was also home for employees of 43 nationalities. Moreover, the Group enabled 324 non-governmental organizations through the Technical Enablement program, which provides services for over 10,000 users in 64 cities. stc Group achieved a rate of 100% in unit analysis, with respect to the risks arising from corruption. Also, 99% of the Group’s employees completed their training to data protection and privacy. Meanwhile, stc Group is committed to its ambitious goal for reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2050, respectively.
