The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) revealed the designs of AlUla International Airport’s terminal 2, on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum.

The designs, announced after a global competition among the world’s major designers, represent an addition for the airport and reflect its expansion in line with the unique urban heritage of AlUla.

RCU aims at air connectivity with various international and local destinations to make AlUla a world-class logistics station in north west of Saudi Arabia. The new expansion will raise the airport’s capacity to six million passengers annually from 400,000.

The expansion includes a hotel, a resort, in addition to several services and facilities to enhance the experience of visiting AlUla.

In March 2021, AlUla International Airport witnessed several projects. The airport’s total area was increased to 2.40 million square meters. It can accommodate up to 15 commercial aircraft at any one time.
