The master plan for the new Abha International Airport entails raising the passenger capacity, number of flights and expanding the air connectivity of Asir region, the SPA reported, citing Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

 

This will boost air traffic and enhance tourism programs and the quality of life to achieve sustainable developing by increasing development and economic diversification, in line with Vision 2030.

 

The transport and logistics system witnesses several strategic projects that aim to achieve a major shift to develop the aviation sector and raise its services, economic and development contributions. This will be attained through the approved strategy, which aims to increase the number of international destinations to more than 250, transport 330 million passengers and raise the capabilities of the air freight sector by doubling its capacity to more than 4.5 million tons.

 

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched on Oct. 12 the general master plan for the new Abha International Airport, Argaam reported.
