Prices of 76 Saudi goods, services decline in May

Prices of 76 goods and services in Saudi Arabia dropped year-on-year (YoY) in May 2023, while prices of 91 out of 169 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, yogurt recorded the biggest rise of 33.33% YoY, followed by baby’s formula with a 21.32% increase YoY.

 

On the other hand, American coffee saw the steepest decline YoY of 22.90%, followed by locally produced and imported tomato with a retreat of 22.72%.

 

Meanwhile, prices of four construction materials increased YoY in May, while the prices of the remaining 34 materials declined during the same month.

 

Prices of eight fodder and livestock products increased YoY during the month, while the other five went down in May.

 

For clothes, eight items saw an increase in prices last month, while the remaining two declined.

 

The four personal services saw a YoY rise in May.

 

Prices of three detergents increased last month.

 

Elsewhere, two of the three healthcare services went up, and the other one declined.

 

Similarly, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew in May YoY.

 

Prices of one -out of two- hotel and furnished apartment service rose on an annual basis in May.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes dropped per pack YoY.
