China's ZOOMLION International Trade has a 20% market share in Saudi Arabia's heavy equipment market, said General Manager Javel Liu, adding that the company is working to increase its capabilities in service, spare parts and support to raise its market share to 40% soon.

In an interview with Argaam on the sidelines of the Arab-China Business Conference held in Riyadh, the top official said that Vision 2030 and China's Silk Road strategy constitute an opportunity for the company to manufacture machinery.

He added that the infrastructure in Saudi Arabia has boosted demand and the continued supply of heavy equipment to the Kingdom, thus improving market share day by day.

Lu also indicated that the company's major clients are large and medium-sized companies, including Nesma & Partners, Mabanee Co., Moanis Mohamed Al-Shayeb Co. for Civil Works, MOPCO, etc.

ZOOMLION seeks to expand its facilities in Saudi Arabia, and is considering the possibility of manufacturing locally due to the Kingdom's privileged location between Asia, Africa and Europe, after obtaining a license in the Special Economic Zone, said the GM.

He also stated that the company was established in 1992 and is listed in China, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and works on research, design and technology.

He added that the main sectors for the company are the manufacture of heavy equipment of all kinds, such as fixed, mobile and overhead cranes for concrete, excavators and bulldozers, in addition to machinery for the agricultural sector.

The company's headquarters in Riyadh is located on an area of more than 10,000 square meters and contains about 200 units of equipment. Meanwhile, ZOOMLION's branch in Jeddah covers an area of about 3,000 square meters and its largest headquarters is in Dammam over an area of 25,000 square meters due to its proximity to the port and the presence of workshops and spare parts, according to the official.

He added that the company began its expansion in Tabuk this year through a branch on an area of about 4,000 square meters.
