A Riyadh Air aircraft
Riyadh Air announced receiving the economic license from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) as a new national carrier in Saudi Arabia during a ceremony held in Riyad Airport to launch the airline's new livery.
Having satisfied the economic requirements, the airline obtained this license.
Riyadh Air was launched by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in March as a Riyadh-based carrier, with its operations center located at King Salman Airport.
The airline recently ordered up to 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in a multi-billion-dollar deal.
The new airline is set to kick off commercial flights in early 2025, targeting 100 international destinations and about 100 million passengers annually.
