Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), announced today, Feb. 20, the establishment of the strategic office for the development of Northern Borders Region.

The office aims to enhance development in the cities and governorates of the region, improve the quality of life for its residents and visitors through investing in the region’s economic, natural and historical potentials, as well as its strategic location, being a northern gate of the Kingdom, the state-run SPA reported.

The new office will be responsible for launching quality initiatives and projects to create an environment that attracts investments to ensure great economic and development advancement and provide jobs for nationals.

It will focus on benefiting from the extraordinary potentials in the region, and invest in its natural, tourism, and heritage traits to raise its contribution to the national economy and create a balanced development environment for local and foreign investments. This will help diversify nationals’ income sources and provide job opportunities for the region’s residents.

Moreover, the office will address any hindrances or obstacles to the deployment of the economic potentials of the region’s governorates in agricultural, tourism, heritage and entertainment projects.

The new establishment builds on the previous announcements on launching strategic offices and development commissions in several regions.
