Saudi Arabia registers price increases for 114 goods, services in January

Prices of 49 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) in January, while prices of 114 out of 169 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, prices of AlSafi Yogurt recorded the highest rise, up 40.85% YoY. It was followed by local frozen chicken (Al Watania), with a 35.39% YoY increase.

 

On the other hand, American cardamom and Indian cardamom saw the steepest decline YoY at 24.19% and 17.40%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 17 construction materials surged YoY in January, while 21 others declined during the same month.

 

Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products soared YoY during the month in the same month.

 

For clothes, nine out of 10 items saw an increase, while prices of other three products retreated.

 

All four personal services saw a YoY rise in January.

 

Prices of all three detergents climbed up last month compared to the same period of the previous year.

 

Elsewhere, two healthcare services were up, while price of one service fell down in the same period.

 

In addition, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew YoY.

 

The prices of both hotel and furnished apartment services rose YoY in January.

 

Under the tobacco products category, prices of Marlboro cigarettes remained unchanged YoY.
