The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) signed on Jan. 29 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Water Regulator (WR) to maximize benefit of the National Water Co.'s infrastructure to extend fiber optics to enable and accelerate their spread in Saudi Arabia.
The MoU aims to exchange support and information between the two parties, according to their respective competencies, and to cooperate to connect optical fibers to homes by sustaining infrastructure, lowering network delivery costs, increasing user access, and reducing drilling and extending impacts.
Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) Abdulrahman AlFadley and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha witnessed the signing of the MoU, which will lead the efforts of both parties to contribute to maximizing the benefit of the water sector’s infrastructure to raise the coverage of fiber optics in the Kingdom.
