The Kingdom will launch the Saudi Road Code project in the next months, Tareq Al Shami, Deputy Minister of Transport for Road Operation and Maintenance, told CNBC Arabia.
He added that the ministry aims to raise the Saudi road quality index from 5.2 to 6 by 2030.
With regard to the performance contracts related to the implementation of road maintenance projects across the Kingdom, Al Shami said the ministry decided to maintain the contract term for three years, after a meeting with the private sector.
He indicated that the ministry aims to extend the contracts in the second phase from four to five years.
The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services signed the Saudi Road Code project contract to improve roads’ lifecycle cost and performance, under Vision 2030, according to data available with Argaam.
