The Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services signed 62 performance contracts with a number of private sector companies for the maintenance of roads across the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency reported.

This aims to enhance road network performance as well as boost their quality and safety.

Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, said the move represents a stage of transition from the traditional methodology of road network operation and maintenance to the methodology of asset management that is based on measuring the performance indicators and meeting the needs of road users.

The ministry is the first government entity to sign performance contracts for road maintenance, Al-Jasser said, adding that the ministry will continue to expand partnership with the private sector as well as enhance quality of main roads.
