A SABIC plant
Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) commenced commercial operations at United Ethylene Glycol Plant 3. The annual production capacity is 700,000 metric tons of monoethylene glycol (MEG), the company said in a statement to Tadawul.
There is no change to the project scope or the related costs.
The project’s financial impact is expected to show as of the fourth quarter of 2022, SABIC added.
In November 2021, the giant petrochemical producer announced the initial startup activities at ethylene glycol plant 3, Argaam reported.
In 2017, SABIC’s 75%-owned subsidiary, Jubail United Petrochemical Co. (JUPC) has signed a joint venture agreement with the South Korea’s Samsung Engineering for the engineering, procurement, and construction services for the plant.
