The signing ceremony
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) signed an agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to create a set of Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness Frameworks to help countries adapt best practices in their use of AI, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The agreement was signed on the second day of the Global AI Summit.
During the summit, SDAIA also joined the World Bank’s "LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND" initiative to harness the potential of AI and support sustainable development goals. This partnership will help fund, catalyze, accelerate and advance AI for sustainable economic impact.
In the same vein, Google Cloud announced a collaboration with SDAIA, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) and Climate Engine to launch the Earth Observation and Science Program.
The program will help address environmental, water and agricultural challenges resulting from climate change, and paves the way for SDAIA and MEWA to lead climate action using artificial intelligence.
In addition, the first AI Center for Environment, Water and Agriculture (AIEWA) was launched in Saudi Arabia. This will help the Kingdom reduce the carbon emissions by more than 278 million tons per annum by 2030 with an aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2060, in addition to planting 10 billion trees by 2030.
Additionally, SDAIA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, launched the AIH center. It also unveiled a new system to convert voice into texts in coordination with the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI).
