Alinma Tokio says preliminary ruling dismisses Anjum Makkah’s legal action

Alinma Tokio Marine Co. said the General Secretariat of the Committees for Settlement of Insurance Disputes and Violations announced that the legal claim filed by Anjum Makkah Hotel.

 

The plaintiff can appeal this preliminary decision within 30 days. However, it would have no right to object the court’s ruling, in the event of not filing an appeal within the aforementioned statutory period, the company indicated. 

 

Anjum Makkah Hotel, a client of Alinma, was insured by an all-risk property insurance policy through 2020- 2021 for SAR 386,000. However, the client claimed was negatively impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak and claimed for SAR 287 million in insurance compensation.  

 

Alinma said neither the relevant legal repercussions nor the related financial impact can be determined at present, and that updates will be duly revealed. 

 

The insurer said a client company brought a case against the insurer demanding compensations due to damages caused by COVID-19. The client was insured by Alinma Tokio against all property risks, for the period from 2020 to 2021 with a total amount of SAR 386 million, according to data available with Argaam
