Saudi holdings of US Treasuries fall to $114.7 bln in May

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries dropped by $1 billion month-on-month to $114.7 billion in May 2022, new data released by the US Treasury showed.

 

The Kingdom rose to 16th place among the largest holders of US debt in May.

 

Saudi Arabia’s investments in US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $99.32 billion, or 87% of the total, and short-term bonds worth $15.33 billion, accounting for 13%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds in May with a value of $1.212 trillion, followed by China with $980.8 billion, as the following table shows:
