The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) updated the cases in which the domestic workers can be transferred without the consent of their employers.

The ministry’s update stipulated in its first article that the domestic worker can leave the employer upon the termination of the contractual relationship.

The second article indicated that the domestic worker can be transferred to another employer without the current employer’s consent in certain cases.

These cases include a domestic worker doesn’t receive salary for three months, either consecutive or interrupted, without the employer’s justification, or the employer doesn’t receive the domestic worker at the airport within 15 days of the latter’s arrival to the Kingdom, or the employer doesn’t issue a residence permit for the domestic worker, or renews 30 days after its expiry date.

The ministry update strives to improve the contractual relationship between both parties and make the Saudi labor market attractive.
