Saudi Cloud Computing Co. (SCCC) launched its services in Saudi Arabia on June 5.

The company is a joint venture (JV) established by Alibaba Cloud (Singapore) Private Limited (Alibaba Cloud), stc Group, eWTP Arabia Technology Innovation Limited Company (eWTPA), Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) and Saudi Information Technology Co. (SITE).

This comes as culmination of Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba Group's digital technology and artificial intelligence arm, choosing Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for its operations in the Middle East.

SCCC will contribute to providing quality jobs, transferring knowledge and expertise to the Kingdom, ensuring a safe working environment for entrepreneurs in the region, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In addition, it will contribute to the development and preparation of the Kingdom's digital infrastructure to provide the latest digital data storage services and solutions, and ensure its protection and security, which will enhance the country’s ability to provide cloud-computing services to international companies.

According to data compiled by Argaam, stc recently signed a JV agreement with eWTP, Alibaba Cloud, SCAI and SITE to set up a cloud computing services firm as a limited liability company in Saudi Arabia.

The new firm has a capital of SAR 894 million, with ownership structure as stc 55%, eWTPA 27%, Alibaba Cloud 10%, SCAI 4% and SITE 4%.
