Southern Province Cement Co.’s (SPCC) board of directors decided to start construction on a production line with a capacity of 5,000 tons per day (tpd), and develop the infrastructure for another line with a production capacity of 5,000 tpd, according to a bourse statement.
The decision was taken after the cement producer completed the detailed technical studies through a specialized consulting company.
Further developments will be announced in due course, the statement added.
In June 2021, the board of directors approved to build a new production line at Jazan cement factory with a capacity of 10,000 tpd to replace the current lines.
In December 2021, SPCC said work is still ongoing to complete the technical studies related to establishing a production line at the factory, according to data available with Argaam.
The implementation of the project is expected to start in the second half of 2022.
