Prices of 145 Saudi goods, services rise in April

Prices of 17 goods and services in Saudi Arabia dropped year-on-year (YoY) in April 2022, while prices of 145 out of 169 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 92 food products, local tomatoes recorded the biggest rise by 78.54% YoY, followed by imported tomatoes with a 66.09% increase YoY.

 

On the other hand, Indian cardamom and American cardamom saw the steepest decline YoY by 15.77% and 13.78%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 33 construction materials increased YoY in April, while the prices of the remaining five materials declined during the same month.

 

Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products increased YoY during the month.

 

For clothes, nine items saw an increase in prices last month, while the remaining one declined.

 

Three out of four personal services saw a YoY rise in April.

 

Prices of all four detergents increased last month, compared to the same period a year earlier.

 

Elsewhere, one of the three healthcare services was up, and the other two declined.

 

Similarly, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew in April YoY.

 

Prices of the two hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in April.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes increased by 0.57% per pack YoY.
