The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced lifting suspension on the national identity (ID) card as a valid document for nationals and GCC citizens traveling to and from the Kingdom.

Saudi citizens can travel to the GCC countries using the national ID card. It urged them to ensure the entry requirements for the target GCC destination, Jawazat added, affirming that the family registry card is not valid for traveling to and from the GCC states.

In March 2020, the Saudi Ministry of Interior decided to suspend the use of national ID cards by Saudi and GCC citizens for travel to and from the Kingdom to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
