Ministry of Industry licenses 72 new factories worth SAR 1.2 bln in February

Saudi Arabia licensed 72 new factories worth over SAR 1.2 billion in February, according to data issued by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

 

The total number of workers in these licensed factories reached 2,339, while the total number of existing and under-construction factories stood at 10,397 across the Kingdom.

 

The total number of factories that began actual production reached 132 in February, with investments reaching SAR 8.2 billion. The total number of workers in these factories reached 5,633.

 

The total number of workers that joined the industrial sector in February reached 12,170, including 4,069 Saudi workers.

 

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef said that the small and medium-sized factories accounted for the majority of factories that began production and dominated most new licenses in February.

 

He added that this reflects the nature of the sector that began to attract emerging and innovative projects, reiterating the ministry's keenness to work with partners to achieve more successes in such a promising sector.
