King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) launched the fourth phase of the initiative to localize renewable energy technologies, by offering brochures to request proposals through the “Etimad” platform, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The initiative aims to localize, develop and prove promising technologies in the renewable energy field, by working with universities, research centers, and private sector companies.

The initiative focuses on providing innovative technical solutions for energy production and storage and finding solutions to deal with the challenges of harsh environmental conditions in the Kingdom.

In addition, it targets to develop appropriate technologies for renewable energy in order to achieve a balanced national energy mix and promote the growth of private sector companies in this field to enable them to compete regionally and globally.

The technology localization initiative includes the “Prototype Development Program for Renewable Energy Technologies,” “Renewable Energy Product Development Program,” “Feasibility Study Program for Localizing and Marketing Renewable Energy Technologies,” and “Proof of Localization and Marketing of Renewable Energy Technologies.”

The programs are designed to include all phases of technology development, starting from the prototype and through the product development to the marketing phase, targeting several segments including universities, research centers, and private sector companies.

KACARE invited the interested parties to participate in these programs through the initial submission via the initiative's website, following which they will receive the initial evaluation from the city, and then they can apply through “Etimad” platform.
