The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today in the field of food and water security, according to Oman News Agency.
The signing of the MoU came on the sidelines of the International Council for Dates, held in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia.
The MoU is aimed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in fields of food and water security within the applicable laws and regulations. It also targets building mutual relations and partnership to achieve the strategic goals of the two countries in food and water security, as well as in integrated water management systems and associated mechanisms of legislation, institutional frameworks and operations.
The MoU also targets the launch of initiatives and projects in areas related to food and water security, developing water-efficient irrigation techniques and applications, and managing ground and surface water, in addition to exchanging knowledge, experiences, information and studies related to food and water security, and developing human resources capabilities in this field.
