Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) set a strategic goal of boosting productivity and performance of the workforce in the public sector, said Mahir Al-Gassim, Vice Minister Public Services at HRSD Ministry.

The ministry launched a number of initiatives to achieve this goal, mainly the Masar performance management initiative.

The ministry also qualified 450 employees in the human resources departments at 75 state-owned entities and trained 1,000 executives last year, Al-Gassim added on the sidelines of the Public Sector Innovation Conference.

Al-Gassim unveiled the employment engagement index within Saudi Vision 2030, which noted an employee engagement of 68% in 2017. This rate jumped to 74% in 2020, compared to the targeted 73.5%. The preliminary results of 2021 indicate an increasing rate.

Al-Gassim also pointed out that the ministry is working on a manual for the ideal work environment, which will be revealed soon.
