Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce registered a 906% increase in commercial records issued for the entertainment and arts sector in 2021 - the highest growth rate in six years or since 2015.

The ministry said in a statement that it issued 2,847 commercial registers for the sector in 2021, compared to 283 registers in 2015.

The total number of commercial registers issued for the entertainment and arts sector in the Kingdom reached 11,400.

Riyadh took over the highest number of commercial registers issued at 4,127, followed by Makkah at 3,216. Eastern Province and Asir came next with 1,701 and 501 registers, respectively.

The number of commercial registers issued for Madinah stood at 441, Qassim (335), Jazan (284), Tabuk (215), Hail (212), Al Jouf (131), Najran (104), Northern Boarders (93) and Al Baha (64).

The significant increase in the commercial registers issued last year aligns with efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 and Quality of Life Program as the Kingdom aims to attract investments worth around $69 billion and provide more than 200,000 job opportunities in the entertainment sector by 2030.
