Saudi ports handle 3 mln containers, tonnage cargo hits 75 mln in Q3 2021: MAWANI

The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) stated that the local ports handled three million inbound and outbound standard containers in the third quarter of 2021, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.

 

This includes the transshipment containers that increased by 19.85% (1.3 million standard containers) year-on-year (YoY), while the tonnage cargo stood at 75 million in Q3 2021, the authority added.

 

The number of vessels grew by 4.73% (3,235) YoY, and the number of passengers soared 97.53% (173,000) compared with a year earlier.

 

Meanwhile, the number of cars increased by 44.83% (203,000) YoY, and the total livestock cargo rose by 17.93%, or 1.2 million, compared with the same period a year before.
