Middle East Paper Co. (MEPCO) laid the cornerstone for its tissue paper jumbo roll project with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons.
Civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering works commenced to ensure that the project site is ready for the second production line in Q2 2022, according to the company’s website.
MEPCO seeks to reduce the Kingdom’s tissue paper imports by building up local capacities and supporting the tissue paper sector’s contribution to the Saudi non-oil gross domestic product (GDP), Sami Safran, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MEPCO, said.
The paper manufacturer is closely watching the potential impact of the challenges facing the world, with regard to supply chains, as well as logistics solutions and supply, Safran affirmed, noting that the project team will deploy additional resources, when necessary, to ensure the fulfillment of the highest standards.
