Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) announced the initial startup activities at ethylene glycol plant (3).
The plant will produce 700,000 metric tons (MT) annually of mono-ethylene glycol (MEG), SABIC said in a statement to Tadawul.
The financial impact is expected to show after the initial startup activities and the start of commercial operation.
SABIC added that the facility was 100% complete, noting that there is no change in the project’s work scope or the related cost.
On Dec. 27, 2017, the giant petrochemical producer announced that its subsidiary, Jubail United Petrochemical Co. (JUPC) has signed a joint venture agreement with the South Korea’s Samsung Engineering for the engineering, procurement, and construction services for the third ethylene glycol plant.
JUPC is 75% owned by SABIC.
