Saudi Arabia is aiming to create a fund worth nearly $2 billion in order to provide clean cooking fuel to more than 750 million people worldwide, according to Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy.

“This stems from the idea of creating a fund where we aim to mitigate health issues of people who use biomass to cook food,” Prince Abdulaziz said during his speech at the fifth edition of Future Investment Initiative.

This comes after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the Middle East Green Initiative Summit on Oct. 25.

The Kingdom announced a regional initiative providing clean energy sources for cooking to more than 750 million people worldwide and establishing a fund for investment in sustainable technology solutions in the region.
