Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb said that the tourism sector is most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and facing a complex and short-term crisis.

Speaking at the fifth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), the minister added that the sector will witness a large growth wave after the end of the pandemic.

He pointed out that travel between countries is on the agenda of ministers and they will push the world to talk together and agree on unified travel protocols, stressing that the solution must be global to facilitate travel.

Al Khateeb said that his ministry is the legislator for the sector within the Kingdom, indicating that small and medium-sized companies lead 80% of tourism projects.

The ministry is working to make the sector more developed and sustainable, the minister said, stressing the need for long-term plans to preserve the environment.
