Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) asked companies to submit their technical and financial offers for a water desalination plant in Jafurah gas field, CNBC Arabia reported, citing a banking source.

A group of local and international companies is expected to compete for the project, which has a capacity of about 100,000 cubic meters per day (m3/d), including ACWA Power, Veolia and SUEZ.

The date for selecting the winning bid is likely in March 2022.

The rise in gas prices was one of the main factors that led to the project’s acceleration, along with the company’s strong liquidity conditions on oil prices improvement.

In September, sources said that Aramco was currently working on resuming projects related to the infrastructure development of Jafurah gas field, whose development cost is estimated at $ 110 billion, according to data compiled by Argaam.
