The Saudi Building Code helps extend the life span of properties to 40-50 years, CNBC Arabia reported, citing Saad Shuail, Secretary General of Saudi Building Code National Committee.

On the other hand, the buildings that are constructed without supervision, quality control or inspection, usually have a life span ranging between 20-25 years, due to neglect in the quality of materials and execution.

The implementation of the Saudi Building Code began on July 1, 2021, enacted by the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing and relevant entities to achieve the set of standards and requirements and related executive regulations for building and construction, according to Argaam's data.
