Signing of the contract
The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services signed the Saudi Road Code project contract to improve roads’ lifecycle cost and performance, under the Vision 2030, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The project aims to stand as a technical reference for all the related entities; where the National Road Safety Center, in collaboration with the competent authorities, will map out a Saudi road code.
It also seeks to achieve the highest levels of safety, quality, economic efficiency, environment and sustainability through many areas, the most important of which are planning, design, execution and road maintenance, while placing the safety of road users as a top priority.
The project uses top-notch specifications for the construction of roads and bridges, in addition to the guidelines necessary to implement the code across all road networks for 18 months.
The Saudi Road Code project is in line with the Vision 2030, and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to place the Kingdom in the sixth place globally in road quality.
