Saudi Arabia aims to improve consumption system, reduce waste by 50%: official

Reem Al-Omair, Chairperson of the Second Economic and Financial Committee at the Kingdom’s Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, said the Kingdom has been working to improve the consumption system and reduce waste by 50% by 2030.

 

During her speech to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Al-Omair indicated that the Kingdom mapped out strategies to support sustainable agriculture and agricultural investment abroad.

 

The Kingdom adopted several systems and innovations that contributed to raising the operational efficiency and productivity of food and agricultural systems, while launching ambitious programs to support the empowerment of youth and women in agricultural work.

 

The country made great efforts to help achieve food security globally and extend a helping hand to poor and developing countries through multiple channels, Al-Omair said.

 

She stressed the Kingdom's commitment to cooperating with international organizations and United Nations bodies to provide the necessary support.
