The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued 1,092 e-licenses through “Mining” portal, raising the total number of licensing applications to 4,073 since its launch. Meanwhile, a total of 1,446 licensing applications are currently submitted.
Jarrah bin Mohammed Aljarrah, the ministry’s spokesperson, said the portal aims to provide all services online. It facilitates issuance of mining license, along with renewal and inquiry about available mining sites across the Kingdom, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.
The portal also seeks to improve investor experience by raising transparency levels and enhancing links with other electronic systems, in line with the target digital transformation plan in the mining sector, Aljarrah added.
In January 2019, Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, rolled out “Mining” portal to serve mining investments. He also launched the pilot version of the National Geological Database to serve investors in mining fields.
