Prices of 72 goods and services out of 166 dropped in Saudi Arabia year-on-year (YoY) in August, while prices of 93 goods and services rose, official data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
Out of the 91 food products, local grapes recorded the biggest rise of 21.51% YoY. It was followed by Al-Arabi frying oil with a 18.99% increase YoY.
On the other hand, Egyptian navel orange and Indian cardamom saw the steepest decline of 20.35% and 15.26% YoY, respectively.
Meanwhile, prices of 33 construction materials increased YoY in August, while five materials decreased.
Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products increased in August on a YoY basis.
For clothes, five items saw an increase, while the remaining five saw a decrease in the same period.
Two out of four personal services saw a YoY rise last month.
Prices of two out of four detergents increased last month, compared to the same period previous year.
Elsewhere, prices of one out of three healthcare services was up in the same period.
Similarly, prices of only one service under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation was higher in August YoY, while the other retreated.
Prices of furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in August, while those of hotels went down.
Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes fell by 0.85% per pack YoY.
