The building code is implemented not only locally but also globally, with lower enactment costs in the Kingdom, compared to other countries, Al Ekhbariya TV reported, citing Saad Shuail, General Secretary of the National Committee of Saudi Building Code (SBC).

Supervision costs hover over 5-8% of the total construction costs internationally, compared to 3-4% in Saudi Arabia.

SBC does not obligate Saudi citizens to contract an engineering office to supervise the building process, but the most important is that an engineer should follow up the building and submit reports on "Balady" electronic platform.

SBC, enacted as of July 1, 2021, is a set of legal, administrative and technical regulations and requirements that specify the minimum standards of construction for building in order to ensure public safety and health, Argaam reported.
