The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) invited the public to provide their feedback on the new draft Entertainment Law through Istitlaa platform, affiliated to the National Competitiveness Center.
In a statement, the authority said the law aims to develop and regulate the entertainment sector in line with the identity of the Kingdom, as well as establish modern development concepts that meet the needs of beneficiaries, and are in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
The law, which consists of 20 articles, aims to explore and prepare investment opportunities for investors, such as proposing the allocation of some land plots for the establishment of recreational facilities.
In addition, the law will create an appropriate environment for holding events and practicing recreational activities, as well as build an attractive environment for businessmen to invest in the entertainment sector. This aims to promote economic development, support local content, and sponsor small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The law specified nine licenses and permits, as well as two accreditation certificates covering recreational activities with their different classifications. In addition, it developed flexible and quick mechanisms for issuing, renewing, amending, and canceling such licenses to ensure facilitating the process of issuing licenses and obtaining data, information, conditions, and requirements for issuing licenses to other parties.
Under the new regulations, the licensee should be committed to the relevant obligations, foremost of which is respecting the public order, national identity, and public morals.
In addition, the authority was tasked with monitoring recreational activities to ensure consumer protection, while identifying the cases that require their license to be canceled or suspended in case of violating obligations.
