Holy Makkah Municipality completed the settlement of some sites belonging to telecom companies in Makkah and renewed contracts for installing and operating the towers of the mobile networks that defaulted seven years ago, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Mutaib Al-Otaibi, Director of Municipal Investments Development, said the municipality concluded agreements with stc, Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA), Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily), Salam, and Tawal, to solve the problem of failure to collect the due rents of sites, given the dispute about the rental value.
He indicated that these agreements include the collection of rents for more than 600 sites at a total value of nearly SAR 200 million.
The municipality seeks to boost telecom coverage for several sites in Makkah and its suburbs through enhancing access to broadband networks for individuals, the top official noted.
He confirmed that the municipality supports companies, which contributes to improving the level of services and enhancing the ability of such companies to invest in its networks.
