Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadley
Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadley, said that food waste in Saudi Arabia reached more than 33%, amounting to SAR 40 billion annually.
During the signing of an awareness campaign against food waste, as part of the national transformation initiatives, AlFadley highlighted the importance of setting highly effective mechanisms for reducing the volume of food waste.
This can further be achieved through collective collaboration in balancing between the purchase of foodstuff and realizing the value of food and the necessity to avoid extravagance.
In addition, awareness levels should be raised among producers and consumers, to curb the impact of such waste on health, environment and the overall economy, the minister stated.
