Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) is working on accelerated plans to convert ports into companies and separate the legislative and operational aspects, as well as boost initiatives with the private sector, Al Riyadh newspaper reported, citing Omar Hariri, Mawani's President.
During a meeting at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, Hariri said the authority seeks to offer several investment opportunities, within the framework of developingthe logistics services of Mawanias well asits ports and facilities.
The official said the authority is currently working on the initial phaseof linking Al-Khumra area in Jeddahto the Jeddah Islamic Port and an area at King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam.
Mawanialso aims to increase the market share of transshipment containers,targeting 45% of the regional market share by 2030, said Hariri.
