Interior ministry says citizens travelling to ‘red-list’ countries to face 3-year travel ban

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior reiterated its warning to citizens against traveling to “red-list” countries as they are witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases due to new variants, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing an official ministry source.

 

The source added that traveling to the banned countries is an explicit violation of the announced instructions.

 

There are reports about citizens traveling to countries where travel is prohibited in violation of the instructions issued by the official authorities. The source warned that such deception, if proven, warrants legal accountability and heavy penalties.

 

The source added that those found to have violated the instructions would be banned from traveling abroad for three years.

 

The Ministry of Interior called on citizens against traveling directly or indirectly to countries where the pandemic has not yet been controlled due to mutated strains.
